eMule is a well-known free file sharing program with open-source policy, providing the following features:

-Clients can use networks like ED2K, Source Exchange and Kad to create a single reliable network
-The Queue and Credit system ensures everyone gets the file wanted by promoting those that upload back to the network.
-Files are checked for corruptions during download to provide error-free files
-The Intelligent Corruption Control speeds up the correction of corrupted parts
-Auto priorities and Source management enable starting multiple downloads that don’t require monitoring
-Previews videos and archives before completion, via the Preview function.
-Provides quick access to and from the Internet.
-Supports category creation for organizing downloads
-Various search options such as Servers for Local and Global, Jigle, and Filedonkey, and Kad Still in Alpha
-Supports complex Boolean searches for increased flexibility
-Through the messaging and friend system users have the possibility to send messages to other Clients, add them as friends and see who’s online
-Enables chat via the IRC client.
