When Windows 7 is installed by default it has a tidy and neat desktop which give a soothing ambiance. As you keep on using it on regular basis you install several applications which might make your desktop populated and notification area dirty. By following below instructions you can shrink the notification area of your Windows 7 computer so that it may not look overcrowded at a single glance.

  1. Right-click on Taskbar.
  2. Click on Properties.
  3. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties box under  Notification Area frame click on Customize button.
  4. In the opened window select the visibility behavior of every icon as per your needs.
  5. Some recommendations for home users might include: hide icon and notifications for any anti-virus that you have installed hide icon and notifications for volume hide icon and notifications for bluetooth hide icon and notifications for battery (for laptops) hide icon and notifications for any inactive chat messenger you have. In this way you can shrink the notification area of your Windows 7 computer and can get back its soothing ambiance even after months of your installation.
