I really enjoy messing with my personal pictures – after all, someone always feels offended when facing some picture with him/her that has effects added, no matter how minor may be the changes. I know, I know – it seems ridiculous. Unfortunately, such people exist – I have such weirdos in my family, too! Well… they surely won’t enjoy Pixlr-O-Matic, but most of my friends surely will, so this one’s for everyone who enjoys adding a nice retro feel to images – I hope they’ll enjoy it at least as much as I do! 😉
Being completely free to use, Pixlr-O-Matic comes from Pixlr.com, but offers a really straightforward approach to image processing. All you have to do is import an image from your computer or using your webcam, then go through the three processing steps that allow you to replicate the effects of old film/developer combinations, lenses and, finally, cropping. Once you get the job done, the result of your work can be saved to your computer or shared directly through imm.io, Pixlr’s own image sharing service. Pretty easy, don’t you think?
In the end, I think I must add that Pixlr-O-Matic is one hell of a Flash-based Web app that’s useful, easy to use and fun at the same time. All the built-in effects look great, modern browsers should handle it without problems and I really love it – enough reasons for anyone out there to take Pixlr-O-Matic for a spin, right? Obviously, if you think that you completely wasted your time with it or found some horrible bug, be sure to drop a comment below. Hey, you can do that even if you find it to be a good find, we won’t mind it at all! 😉
