Uninstall Hardware Device Driver from Windows 7

In any Microsoft operating system uninstalling any software application is quite simple and users are required to go to Control Panel in order to do so. Moreover many applications create their own shortcut folders in the start menu and these folders also have Uninstall applications using which users can uninstall the application from there itself. The problem however arises when users want to uninstall any hardware device driver because its uninstallation link is not available under Programs and Features. Instead they are required to go to Device Manager snap-in and from there they are required to uninstall the desired hardware device. As a Windows 7 administrator if because of any reason you want to uninstall hardware device driver you are required to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Since the process requires elevated privileges logon to Windows 7 computer with any account that has administrative powers.

  2. From the start menu right click on Computer and from the available context menu click to Manage.

  3. On Computer Management snap-in from the left bar click on Device Manager.

  4. From the right pane right click on the desired hardware device and from the available menu click on Uninstall.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
