As soon as Active Directory Services are installed on a Windows server 2008 computer a list of management tools is also created under Administrative Tools category. Another unique feature in Windows server 2008 is that it offers Server Manager Window which serves as a one-stop shop for every utility or tool that is available with Windows server 2008. However in many cases administrators may not want either of these configurations snap-ins and they may want to create their own tailored snap-ins in order to reach for the tools easily. Creation of tailored snap-ins is a simple task however sometimes it might be challenging for the administrators to determine as what snap-ins should be added and which should be left alone to get the best possible solution. Whatsoever the case is as an administrator if you want to create your own tailored snap-in you are required to follow the steps given as below:

1.       Logon to Windows server 2008 domain controller with any account that has domain admin privileges.

2.       At the bottom of start menu in search box type MMC and press enter key to open a blank console.

3.       From File menu go to Add/Remove Snap-in.

4.       On Add or Remove Snap-ins box choose the desired tools and press Add button to add each of them.

5.       Once done click on Ok button to create your own customized snap-in.
