Disable Windows Media Center in Windows 7

As everyone knows Windows 7 is a complete multimedia operating system which is designed to be used in both home and production environments. The best part that Windows 7 offers is Windows Media Center which is a built-in program that allows users to do almost any multimedia task that is possible. For example Windows Media Center allows users to view TV play music watch movies view Internet TV capture TV etc. In many production environments however this utility is not considered as appropriate as it may divert employees’ minds which can affect their business lines. Keeping this in mind administrators in many organizations deliberately disable Windows Media Center and as a Windows administrator in such organization if you want to do so you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with the account that has administrative privileges.

  2. Click on Start button and from the menu go to Control Panel.

  3. On the opened box click on Programs category link.

  4. Click on Turn Windows features on or off link under Programs and Features category.

  5. From the opened box expand Media Features and from the available list of features uncheck the check box representing Windows Media Center.

  6. Click on Yes button on the confirmation box that appears and finally click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.
