Audibles in Yahoo! Messenger can be considered as an extended form of Emoticons and can be used to represent the feelings of chat users via some animated icons along with audio integrated in them. These audibles generally have some prewritten texts which are said aloud by the icons represented in the audibles. They can also be used to poke and prank friends in mischievous ways so that they can enjoy their chats. By default these audibles are enabled in Yahoo! Messenger and can be used with just a single mouse click. However in some cases specifically in official atmospheres users may want to disable them as per the environment of the organizations. As a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to disable these audibles you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Provide credentials of Yahoo! Messenger in the interface in order to logon to the messenger.

  2. Go to Messenger menu and then go to Preferences option.

  3. On the opened Yahoo! Messenger Preferences box in the left pane click on Messages category.

  4. From the right pane under Miscellaneous section uncheck Enable Audiblescheckbox.

  5. Finally click on Ok button to save the changes and restart the application to allow the changes to take effect.
