Emoticons in any chat messenger are small icons which sometimes are animated and they are used to represent the emotions of the chat users in graphic form. They are integrated in the chat messengers so that users can express their feelings while interacting with their friends via text. Yahoo! Messenger also has several Emoticons and most of them are in animated form. Under normal circumstances and as a default configuration these Emoticons are enabled so that chat users can use them during their conversation with their friends or colleagues. However in some cases where Yahoo! Messenger is used strictly for official purpose users may want to disable these Emoticons for the sake of decorum of the organizations. As a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to disable them you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Provide appropriate credentials in Yahoo! Messenger interface in order to logon to the messenger.

  2. Go to Messenger menu and then go to Preferences option.

  3. On the opened box from the left pane click on Messages.

  4. From the right pane under Miscellaneous section uncheck Enable emoticons checkbox to disable the Emotionsfeature.

  5. Finally click on Ok button to save the changes and close Yahoo! Messenger Preferences box.
