Disable Yahoo! Messenger Idle Status in Windows 7

Yahoo! Messenger is capable of serving people and helping them in their conversations and communications so that users can key connected worldwide. Since the application is sophisticated it tells other users when the online friend is idle and since when he is that state. This helps users to determine if it is right time to contact the online user. Keeping these things in mind this feature can be considered as of great help however in many cases users may not want other people to know since when they are idle. Especially in organizations where employees might not want their bosses to know if they are idle and if they want to disable this feature they can follow the steps below:

  1. Provide appropriate credentials in Yahoo! Messenger and logon to the application.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and then go to Preferences option.

  3. In the left pane on the opened box click on Privacy.

  4. On the right pane under Idle Status section uncheck Show me as “Idle” if I don't use the computer for xx minutescheckbox.

  5. Click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.

  6. If required restart the application to allow the changes to take effect and verify them.
