As every Yahoo! Messenger chat user knows the application offers complete control over the configuration and therefore users can set up the application in quite granular form. Same is the case with idle status that is displayed when the application does not detect any user interaction for a specific period of time. Users can disable the feature that displays idle status but the best thing that Yahoo! Messenger offers is that users can keep this feature enabled while disabling the time duration since when they have been idle. This configuration allows users to inform other friends if they are idle but they can still keep the secret as since when they are not active in Yahoo! Messenger chat application. As a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to configure this you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer and provide appropriate credentials in Yahoo! Messenger interface to logon to the application.

  2. Click on Preferences option from the Messenger menu.

  3. From the left pane click on Privacy option and from the right pane under Idle Status section check Do not show anyone how long I have been idlecheckbox.

  4. Click on Ok button when done.
