Enable Secure Browsing on Facebook Account

Technically speaking almost every website that is available on the Internet works on Port 80 which means that every communication that takes place between the user and the site is transferred in plain text. The consequences of this might be that any hacker can intrude in and capture the transferring data in order to steal the passwords. On the other hand when Port 443 is used this means that every communication that takes place is encrypted and even if any hacker captures the transferring data he cannot read the contents of that packet. In layman language whenever HTTPS is used during the communication between site and user it can be considered that the communication is safe and hackers cannot easily trace the passwords which in other words means that Facebook account cannot be hacked (not easily at least). This is called as secure browsing and Facebook also allows this feature however it needs to be manually enabled if users want to secure their accounts and communications. As a Facebook account user if you want to enable secure browsing you can follow the steps given below:

  1. Log onto a Facebook account providing appropriate credentials.

  2. Click on the triangle available at the top right corner of the page.

  3. From the available list click on Account Settings.

  4. On the opened page click on Security option from the left pane.

  5. From the right pane click on Secure Browsing and check Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) when possiblecheckbox to enable secure browsing.

  6. Click on Save Changes button to complete the process.
