If your Windows 7 computer is connected to another computer through local area network using Remote Desktop Connection tool you can play the music on the remote computer and can hear the sound on your local machine. This feature is although not very useful for production environments however it can be a great fun for home users. With the help of this setting users do not have to store their music files on every computer available at their homes. On the contrary they can store all music files at a common location and can hear the music on remote computers without disturbing the user using the main machine. You can configure your Remote Desktop Connection tool to hear music from remote computer by following the steps given below:
- Logon to your Windows 7 computer with the user account on which you want to hear the music and initiate Remote Desktop Connection tool by typing mstsc in the search box and pressing enter key.
- On the appeared box go to Local Resources tab and under Remote audio section click on Settings button.
- On the opened box under Remote audio playback section make sure that Play on this computer radio button is selected and click on Ok button to make your settings persistent.
- Once done click on Connect button to initiate the connection to the remote computer and play any audio file that is stored on it.
If remote computer has any Client Operating System for example Windows XP Windows 7 or Windows Vista installed on it the local user of that computer will automatically be logged off as soon as you will initiate Remote Desktop Connection to that computer.
