How and Why to Enable/Disable ACE in VMware Workstation 6.5

ACE in VMware workstation is yet another unique feature that is not offered by any other virtualization application available in the market. With help of this feature administrators can configure virtual machines even more granularly to make them best fit for medium to large scale industries. With the help of ACE administrators can specify authentication permissions lifetime etc. for the virtual machines. Mostly this feature is used to create virtual machines that can be sent to the branch offices so that they can be used on VMware players. As VMware player is a freeware application branch offices can use them to import virtual machines which are created using VMware workstation application. However before using ACE to modify virtual machines the feature needs to be enabled manually. As a VMware administrator you can enable ACE feature in VMware workstation application by following the steps given below:

  1. Open VMware workstation console window by double-clicking on the icon present on the desktop.

  2. On the opened window in the right pane click the tab displaying the name of the virtual machine which you want to modify using ACE and from the appeared options click on Enable ACE Features link.

  3. Once done you will be displayed with some other features that are only offered when ACE is enabled.
