How to Schedule Task in Windows Server 2008?

When Windows server 2008 is installed on a computer it is expected to be used as a secured Network Operating System and it is also expected that administrators would exploit all the features offered by it. In any organization there might be cases where you as an administrator would want to schedule any task to automate any application or script. When this is the case Tasks Scheduler which is a built-in feature in Windows Server 2008 can be used to solve the purpose. Although there are several third-party applications also available in the market but in small to medium scale organizations integrated program of Windows Server 2008 can work efficiently. As an administrator if you want to schedule any task in Windows Server 2008 you need to follow the steps given as below:

1.       Logon to Windows Server 2008 with any account that has administrative privileges.

2.       Click on Start button and from the appeared menu click on Server Manager.

3.       On the opened box in the left pane expand Configuration tree.

4.       From the available list right-click on Task Scheduler and from the available menu click on Create Basic Task.

5.       On Create Basic Task page specify the name for the task in Name text box would and type the description for the task in Description box.

6.       Click on Next button and on the next page from the available list choose the appropriate option which will specify at which time the task will be started.

7.       On next page adjust proper settings as per the requirements and click on Next button.

8.       On next page make sure that Start a program radio button is selected and click on Next button.

9.       On Start the Program page click on Browse button to browse for and locate the program that you want to schedule to run.

10.   Click on Next button.

11.   On Summary page click on Finish button to create schedule task.
