Legacy versions of Windows-based operating systems also had command line interfaces with the help of which administrators used to automate many tasks. Command line execution in older versions was although a powerful tool for the administrators if they want to expedite any task and initiate any program without regular user interaction however with the latest release of Windows server 2008 Network Operating System another command line interface named PowerShell is introduced. PowerShell works as the both command line interface and a scripting language which eliminates the requirement of any third-party scripting language application. PowerShell works at the base of Windows server 2008 operating system and any command or graphical input given by the user to the operating system is first of all handled by PowerShell. This feature is already available in Windows server 2008 but does not get installed along with the operating system. As an administrator if you want to install PowerShell on Windows server 2008 computer you need to follow the steps given below:
1. Logon to Windows server 2008 computer with any account that has administrative privileges.
2. Click on Start button and from the menu click on Server Manager.
3. On the opened box in the left pane click on Features from the available list and from the right pane click on Add Features link.
4. On Select Features page check Windows PowerShell checkbox from the available list and click on Next button.
5. On the next page click on Install button to start the installation process.
