Microsoft Internet Explorer is a web browser that ships along with Microsoft Windows 7 itself. When Windows 7 is installed on a computer the default web browser is Internet Explorer which serves its purpose at its best. However many times users might prefer any third-party web browser application for example Mozilla Firefox or Opera because of their flexible nature. Whenever any third-party web browser application is installed on a computer it automatically becomes the default web browser and if it does not it prompts the user if he wants to make the newly installed web browser the default. Under certain circumstances user might say no but in most cases users except the default configuration and allow the third-party web browser to become the default one. After sometime that is because of some reasons the user might realize that Internet Explorer is required to be the default web browser in order to open some webpages and pop-ups. When this is the case users need to manually make Internet Explorer the default web browser and as a Windows 7 user if you want to do so you need to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer.

  2. From the quick launch toolbar in the taskbar click on Internet Explorer icon to open it.

  3. Click on Tools menu and from the list click on Internet Options.

  4. On the opened box go to Programs tab and under Default web browser section click on Make Default button.

  5. To get the notification if Internet Explorer is not default web browser you need to check Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browsercheckbox.

  6. Once and click on Ok button and close all the opened boxes in Windows to save the changes.
