Port numbers play important role while using any torrent application. Port numbers can be understood as logical doors using which any data enters into the system. Same is the case with torrent applications as every application uses a random port number which allows the information to enter into the system while downloading. Although as mentioned above every torrent application uses random port number that it automatically generates as it is initialized users can still specify the port numbers manually which is not at all recommended though. The reason behind this is that the port numbers which are automatically generated are always unique to the application whereas the port numbers which users specify may contain some redundancies. Whatsoever the case is as a BitComet user in Windows 7 if you want to specify manual port number to the application you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer on which BitComet application is installed.

  2. Double-click on the icon of the application to initialize it and get its interface.

  3. Click on Tools menu and from the available list click on Options.

  4. On the opened box make sure that Connection option is selected from the left pane and from the right pane under Listen Portcategory specify the port number as desired. (Only use this setting if you are familiar with the port numbers and other consequences that you may face while using them.)

  5. Finally click on Ok button to allow the application to save the changes that you have made.
