Register Your Username with Facebook

Whenever a new Facebook account is created it is assigned with a profile ID that is a collection of large numerical digits and is quite difficult to remember. Also it is not realistic to use this profile ID as a URL which can be distributed publicly so that anyone can locate a user using it. Facebook understands this complication and therefore it allows users to register their usernames with Facebook so that the profile IDs can be replaced with realistic and easily readable names. Profile ID which is numerical still remains the same and works in the background whereas the realistic readable name works in the foreground and proves helpful while locating a user uniquely. Registering a username with Facebook is one-time process which cannot be reverted or modified and as a Facebook user if you want to register your username with the site you can follow the steps given below:

  1. Provide appropriate credentials on the Facebook site to logon to your account.

  2. Click on down facing triangle at the top right corner of the page and from the available options click on Account Settings.

  3. On the opened page make sure that you are on General option from the left pane.

  4. From right pane click on Username option.

  5. On the appeared text field provide a unique username that you want to sign with your profile and type in the password in Passwordfield.

  6. Finally click on Saves Changes button to register your username.
