Remove Internet Explorer 8 from Windows 7

With the installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8 is also automatically installed on the computer. For home users and in any small-scale industry this built-in default web browser serves the purpose at its best however in many production environments and medium to large scale industries many administrators prefer any third-party browser to exploit the features offered by them fully. Moreover in such cases administrators may also want to uninstall the default built-in Internet Explorer 8 from Windows 7 because of several security reasons. When this is the case after installing any third-party web browser application on Windows 7 computer if administrators want to uninstall the default Internet Explorer 8 browser they need to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with any account that has elevated privileges.

  2. Click on Start button and from the available menu click on Control Panel.

  3. On the opened window click on Programs.

  4. On the next page click on Turn Windows features on or off link under Programs and Features category.

  5. On Windows Features box uncheck Internet Explorer 8 checkbox and on the confirmation box click on Yesbutton to continue the process.

  6. Once done close all the Windows and boxes and if required restart the computer.
