Reverting Virtual Machines Back to the Snapshot States in VMware

After you have created a snapshot of a virtual machine in VMware and have messed up the VM because of unsuccessful testing and trials you can get back its original state within few seconds by reverting the virtual machine back to the snapshot. In other words snapshot works as a restore point for the virtual machine which can be used in case the virtual machine starts behaving obnoxiously. Reverting a virtual machine to the snapshot is a simple process and requires almost 0 level administrative overhead. However it is always advisable that snapshots should be managed appropriately in order to exploit the feature at its full. As a VMware administrator you can revert a virtual machine back to its snapshot by following the steps given below:

1. Open VMware workstation console window.

2. In the console window from the left Sidebar click on the virtual machine which you want to revert back to its snapshot and from the menu bar click on VM.

3. From the appeared menu go to Snapshot and from the submenu click on Revert to Snapshot.

4. In the confirmation box click on Yes button to initiate the process. Optionally you can go to Snapshot Manager to manage the snapshots manually as per the needs.
