By default Yahoo! Messenger chat application is configured to display all the online and offline friends which are added in the messenger list. This configuration is quite useful for the people who have added limited number of friends in their lists which can be wrapped up in a single window and can be viewed without or very small vertical scroll bar. However in the cases where there are huge number of friends added in the messenger lists users may want to hide all the offline friends and configure the application to display only the friends which are online. This configuration is quite easy and can be configured right from the main interface of the application. As a Yahoo! Messenger chat application user in Windows 7 if you want to do so you can follow the steps given below:

  1. Provide credentials in Yahoo! Messenger application interface and sign in.

  2. On the main interface click on the triangle which is facing downwards and is next to Contacts option.

  3. From the available list click on the option that says Show Offline Contacts.

  4. This will uncheck the check mark and only online friends will be available after this.

  5. You can repeat the process to get back the list of offline friends if required.
