Since Yahoo! Messenger chat application is versatile software that allows users to interact with each other through text voice and/or video chat it also provides complete control over the selection of devices which can be used while communicating. In other words if users have multiple input or output devices attached to their computers which can participate in the communication they can choose the appropriate ones as per the requirements. Same is the case with microphone that can be selected as per user’s choice. This feature is mostly used when Yahoo! Messenger is installed on a laptop PC where integrated microphone is available and still the user has connected an external headphone device for communication. In these situations by default Yahoo! Messenger automatically uses headphones as default input device however if users want they can choose integrated microphones by following the steps given below:
Sign in to Yahoo! Messenger by providing appropriate credentials after initiating the application.
Click on Messenger menu and then go to Preferences option.
On the opened box in the left pane click on Video & Voice Devices section and from the right pane under Select devices category choose the appropriate option from the drop-down list available in front of Microphoneoption.
Once you are satisfied with the configuration click on Ok button to save the changes.
