Configure Yahoo! Messenger for Better Video Quality in Windows 7

Yahoo! Messenger chat application can also be used to control the quality of video that users’ friends can see when video chat is initiated. This means that users can configure the application to either broadcast the video at faster speed or they can also configure it to provide better quality at the cost of reduces broadcast speed. By default the application is configured to provide video broadcast at fastest available bandwidth and compromises in video quality. However if users want they can manually configure this setting so that they can broadcast their webcam images at better quality if they have decent bandwidth speed for their Internet connections. As a Yahoo! Messenger chat application user if you want to do so you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Provide appropriate credentials in Yahoo! Messenger chat application interface to sign in.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and then click on Preferences option.

  3. From the left pane in the opened box click on Webcam category.

  4. From the right pane under Broadcast my webcam withsection move the slider from left to right to increase the quality and decrease the broadcast speed at the same time.

  5. Once you are satisfied with the configuration you have made click on Ok button to save the changes.
