Do Not Retrieve File Information from Internet in Windows 7

Whenever a file is played in Windows Media Player every detail of the file is available for the users to get every possible information. Many times the information of the file for example its genre etc is missing and users have no way to get its details other than Internet. In many cases users do not care much about these types of things however sometimes it becomes essential for the users to grab these details from the Internet so that they can categories the location of the file accordingly. Windows Media Player offers a feature using which the missing information of the files can automatically be retrieved from the Internet so that every detail of the file is complete. This consumes a small amount of Internet bandwidth and because of any reason if users do not want this configuration to be left enabled they can follow the steps provided below to disable it:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with any account.

  2. Click on the icon of Windows Media Player available in the taskbar.

  3. On the opened interface click on Organize menu and from the available list click on Options option.

  4. On the opened box make sure that you are on Library tab.

  5. Uncheck Retrieve additional information from the Internet checkbox under Automatic media information updates for filessection.

  6. Once done click on Ok button to save the changes you have made.
