Enable or Disable Yahoo! Messenger Auto Start with Windows 7

There are several software applications which can be configured to automatically start whenever Windows 7 computer starts. Yahoo! Messenger is among one of these applications and can easily be configured to initiate itself as soon as users turn on their Windows 7 laptop PCs or desktops. This configuration is by default enabled as soon as Yahoo! Messenger is installed and can be disabled at users’ will. There can be several reasons for enabling or disabling this configuration including security measures in organizations and avoiding annoyance to the users in home environments. Whatsoever the case is if as a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 you want to enable or disable this feature you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Yahoo! Messenger chat application with your user account.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and from the list click on Preferences option.

  3. From the opened box in the left pane make sure that General category is selected.

  4. From the right pane under When I start up my computer category check or uncheck Automatically start Yahoo! Messengercheckbox to enable or disable automatic initialization of the application.

  5. Once done click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.
