How to install IIS Service on Windows 7

Microsoft Windows operating systems have been using IIS or Internet Information Services since quite a long time. IIS services allow users to use several applications which can only be installed and used when this service is installed and enabled. Moreover if administrators want to host a single website IIS services are also essential to do so. Since Windows 7 is a client operating system IIS which is integrated in it can only host maximum of one website at a single given time. Configuration of IIS is beyond the scope of this section however installation process of the service is quite simple. The process of installing IIS on a Windows 7 computer requires elevated privileges and therefore administrator account is required to be used if the services are to be installed. As a Windows 7 administrator if you want to install IIS services you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with any account that has elevated privileges.

  2. Click on Start button and from the menu click on Control Panel.

  3. On the open window click on Programs link.

  4. On the next window under Programs and Features category click on Turn Windows features on or off link.

  5. On Windows Features box click on the check box representing Internet Information Services. By default all the mandatory services are automatically selected.

  6. Once done click on Ok button and close all the open windows.

  7. If required restart the computer.
