Even if you have several windows opened in Windows 7 it is commonly understood that you will work only at one application or window at a time. This means that if you are working on one application or window rest of them will automatically become inactive and in many cases you might prefer minimizing them in order to get some room on the desktop screen for the active application or window. However in some cases you might need to restore any or all of the minimized windows which might sometimes be annoying. Microsoft understands this frustration of the users and therefore it has integrated a feature in Windows 7 using which you can maximize or restore the desired window or application right from the keyboard. As such user if you want to do so you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with any account as no elevated privileges are required in this case.

  2. Open multiple windows and applications so that they can be seen pinned on the taskbar.

  3. If you want to open a specific application from the taskbar you need to count its sequence number from left to right and then you need to press Windows key + corresponding number of the application. For example if the desired application or window is at the fifth place in the taskbar you need to press Windows key + 5to maximize or restore that very window.
