Developers of Yahoo! Messenger chat application have considered every aspect of users’ mentality and have developed the application keeping in mind that users’ privacy should be kept on top priority. This is the only reason why they have integrated the feature of blocking everyone else except those who are in the users’ friend’s list. By default this feature is not enabled and anyone can contact the users whether from chat rooms or conferences. However if users want they can enable this feature easily with the help of a few mouse clicks and this feature provides complete privacy to the users by ignoring all the messages sent to him/her by anyone who is not in his/her friend’s list. As Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to configure the above settings you are required to follow the steps provided as below:

  1. Logon to Yahoo! Messenger chat application by providing appropriate credentials in its interface.

  2. Go to Preferences option by clicking on Messenger menu.

  3. On the opened box from the left pane click on Ignore List from the available list of categories.

  4. From the right pane click on Ignore anyone who is not in my Yahoo! Contactsradio button.

  5. Once you are done with the configuration stated above click on Ok button to save the changes and make your profile completely private.
