Turn Off/Disable Windows Media Player in Windows 7

Like all other legacy versions of Microsoft operating systems Windows 7 also has a built in Windows Media Player that allows users to play movies and music while providing promising sound and video quality at the same time. For home users Windows Media Player is a real economical fun as they need not to go for any third-party application to experience good quality while playing any music or movie file. In production environments however administrators may still object if any employee of the company tries to use Windows Media Player during office hours. In these cases the best option or say the best solution the administrators may go for this that they can disable Windows Media Player from Windows 7 operating system. As a Windows 7 administrator if you want to disable/turn off Windows Media Player from your computer you are required to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with the administrator account.

  2. From the start menu go to Control Panel.

  3. On the opened window click on Programs category link and from the next window click on Turn Windows features on or off link under Programs and Features category link.

  4. On Windows Features box expand Media Features and from the available list uncheck the check box representing Windows Media Player.

  5. Click on Yes button on the appeared confirmation box and finally click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.
