For any user it sometimes might become quite tedious and hectic to browse through all the shortcuts and menus to open any application. To eliminate this problem many users create shortcuts of the applications on desktops which they can double-click to open them. Even this configuration might sometimes become problematic when there are several icons present on the desktop and it becomes almost impossible for users to locate and double-click on the right one. In these situations as an administrator you can specify shortcut keys (combination of keys) which when pressed can initiate desired application. You can do so for any application by following the steps given as below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer with any account.

  2. Right click on the application for which you want to specify shortcut keys and from the appeared menu click on Properties.

  3. On the opened box make sure that you are on Shortcut tab.

  4. In Shortcut key text box specify the shortcut key by pressing Ctrlkey and any other uniquely identifiable character.

  5. Once done click on Ok button to save the changes.

Note: You need not to press all three key combinations in order to specify shortcut key. You can simply press either Ctrl or Shift key and any other character key to assign it as the shortcut to the application.
