Since Yahoo! Messenger makes sounds for every notification users are not required to be present in front of computer systems every time. As soon as any activity takes place in Yahoo! Messenger notification sound alerts the users about it. Same is the case with video or voice incoming call which notifies the users by making ringing sound. In many conditions this configuration is helpful as it notifies the users almost instantaneously that their friend is calling them however in some conditions where silence is required for example in offices or hospitals users can disable incoming call sound notifications only. This configuration does not disable any other alert sound but only the ring tone of any incoming video or voice call. As Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to do so you are required to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Provide Yahoo! Messenger credentials in order to logon to the messenger.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and then click on Preferences option from the available list.

  3. From the opened box from the left pane click on Alerts & Sounds category.

  4. From the right pane choose I receive an incoming video or voice call option under Alert me when section.

  5. Under Alert me by section uncheck Playing a soundcheckbox.

  6. Finally click on Ok button to save the changes.
