Disable Yahoo! Messenger Online Game Status in Windows 7

Yahoo! Messenger chat application has proved to be the most used software for communications around the globe. Yahoo! Messenger provides several sophisticated features using which users can easily interact with their colleagues and friends. Since Yahoo! Messenger is a chat application it can be configured by the users to display online status message so that other users in the Messenger list may come to know about the current activity of online user. Although users can manually set up an online status however in some cases the application is capable of setting it up automatically. Same is the case when games are played on Yahoo! web site. This means that whenever users play online games using Yahoo! web site their online status in the application automatically changes. Sometimes users may not want this to happen and as a Windows 7 user who uses Yahoo! Messenger if you want you can disable this by following the steps given below:

  1. Provide appropriate credentials to log on to Yahoo! Messenger chat application.

  2. Click on Messenger and then go to Preferences option.

  3. From the left pane the opened box click on Privacy category.

  4. From the right pane under Change my status automatically when I am section uncheck Playing a game on the Yahoo! Games web sitecheckbox.

  5. Click on Ok button when done.
