Fix Bootloader File in Windows 7

Many times a Windows 7 computer fails to boot. There might be several reasons behind it but one of the major reasons which are mostly encountered by the experienced professionals is corrupt bootloader file. In fact bootloader is the only file that allows Windows 7 operating system to boot whenever the computer is started. Many inexperienced administrators prefer reinstallation of entire operating system when the operating system fails to boot but this section will guide you through the process using which as an administrator or a home user you can fix the corrupt bootloader file easily. The process requires Windows 7 bootable media and a CD/DVD-ROM drive directly connected to the computer. The computer should also be configured to boot from CD/DVD-ROM. As a Windows 7 administrator in order to repair the bootloader file you need to follow the steps given as below:

  1. Insert Windows 7 bootable media into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
  2. Start the computer with DVD support.
  3. On the appeared screen click on Repair your computer.
  4. After scanning is complete click on Windows 7 Installation and click on Next button.
  5. On System Recovery Options box click on Command Prompt.
  6. On the opened command window type bootrec.exe /FixBoot and press enter key to repair the file.
  7. Take out the bootable media from CD/DVD-ROM drive and restart the computer normally.
