Free eBooks Online For Everyone

When it comes to freedom the almighty Internet has two sides - some say that Internet freedom is the same with the right to steal other's work while others fight to bring forward really free stuff without stealing or plagiarizing anyone's work. Even when talking about free eBooks available online these two sides of the coin are present: plenty of torrent sites and blogs allow you to download pirated books while sites like Project Gutenberg do the right thing and provide free material without charging anything although donations are welcome...

... and that "free" part also depends on your location unfortunately since the official mumbo-jumbo goes like this: "Our ebooks are free in the United States because their copyright has expired. They may not be free of copyright in other countries. Readers outside of the United States must check the copyright laws of their countries before downloading or redistributing our ebooks." The numbers look solid with over 33000 free eBooks available for download in one of those many formats available (ePub Kindle HTML and simple text formats) or if downloading doesn't sound good to you reading stuff online is also an option. Considering the above I am sure you figured out already that Project Gutenberg has no problem with your PC iPad Kindle Sony Reader iPhone Android or other portable device you may have which is absolutely awesome! Other than what I wrote above... I guess I must say that the site doesn't look out of this world and to be honest I couldn't care less about this part. The truth is that Project Gutenberg is well organized most of the books available are great and everything is really well organized so if I really had to complain about anything I would say that I couldn't find any software- or hardware-related books. Well I guess you can't have it all for free... so be happy with what you got - go visit Project Gutenberg right now! ;)
