Retrieve All Information of Media Files in Windows 7

Whenever a music or video files is played in Windows Media Player by default all its information is automatically gathered by the application. In many cases this information is not at all required by the users as they are not concerned about it. This scenario is most commonly seen in home environments. However in some cases users may require the details of the files and to help these types of users Windows Media Player is configured to automatically go to the Internet and retrieve the missing information of media files almost instantaneously. In order to preserve Internet bandwidth the default configuration of Windows Media Player is that it retrieves only the missing information of the file but still if users want they can configure the application to retrieve each and every detail of the file which may also include any updated information that the file may have. As a Windows Media Player user if you want to configure this you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Windows 7 computer.

  2. Open Windows Media Player by clicking on its icon on the taskbar.

  3. Once opened click on Organize menu to get the list.

  4. From the available list click on Options.

  5. On the opened box make sure that you are on Library tab and select Overwrite all media information radio button under Automatic media information updates for filessection.

  6. Once you are done with the configuration click on Ok button to save the changes.
