To make Yahoo! Messenger completely user-friendly and easy to use by the users it offers several default built in features which prevent users from accidentally getting logged off even if the press any inappropriate button. Best example can be that even if users close the main Window of Yahoo! Messenger the application never gets automatically logged of but keeps on running in the background. The main window disappears from the desktop screens instantaneously though. Under normal circumstances this configuration is quite helpful for the users who are in the habit of closing every window once their task is complete however in many cases users may want to log off from Yahoo! Messenger immediately as they close main window of the application. When this is the case these users can configure Yahoo! Messenger to logoff instantaneously as soon as they close the main window by following the steps given below:

  1. Initiate Yahoo! Messenger chat application and provide appropriate credentials to logon to the messenger.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and click on Preferences option.

  3. From the left pane on the opened box make sure that you are on General category.

  4. From the right pane under Signing out of Yahoo! Messenger section check Sign out of Messenger when I close main windowcheckbox.

  5. Click on Ok button to complete the process.
