Default nature of Yahoo! Messenger is that whenever a user joins or leaves the chat room he is displayed with the text messages in the open box notifying about the users who have joined or left the room. This makes users easy to know and understand as to which user they can interact with and who is not available for further communication in the room. This configuration is by default enabled during the installation of Yahoo! Messenger and under normal conditions it should be left intact so that users can experience the best performance offered by the application. However in some cases users may want to disable this feature because of any reason and as a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to do so you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Enter appropriate credentials for Yahoo! Messenger and once logged on click on Messenger menu.

  2. From the available list of options click on Preferences option.

  3. On the opened box click on Chat category from the left pane.

  4. From the right pane uncheck Tell me when other people join or leave the roomcheckbox.

  5. Once you are done with the configuration finally click on Ok button to save the changes that you have made.
