Since Yahoo! Messenger is a chat application that allows users to communicate with one another users can even add people if they find them good. These people are added in the friends’ list so that users can interact with them as per their convenience and moreover they can come to know when other users are online. Since Yahoo! Messenger is specifically developed for communication purpose it also allows people to interact with the users in the IM boxes who are not in their Messenger list. However some security measures are still offered by the application so that users can still maintain their privacy. The best feature in this aspect is that users can configure the application to display all the messages from the people who are not in Messenger list in one chat window or IM box. As a Yahoo! Messenger user in Windows 7 if you want to configure this you are required to follow the steps given below:

  1. Logon to Yahoo! Messenger by providing appropriate credentials in its interface.

  2. Click on Messenger menu and then click on Preferences option.

  3. On the opened box from the left pane go to Messages and from the right pane under When I receive messages from people not in my Messenger list section choose Show the messages in single windowradio button.

  4. Finally click on Ok button when done.
