When using Remote Desktop Connection you can take your local drives to the remote computer virtually. In simple words you can map your local logical drives so that they can be available on remote computers when Remote Desktop Connection is initialized. The benefit of this is that you do not have to navigate to and fro from your local machine to remote computer every time you need to fetch files and folders that you want to share. On the contrary with the help of this drive mapping feature you can easily copy and paste files or folders to the remote computer as if your local drive is actually the local drive of remote machine. The process for this is quite simple and you can do so by following the steps given below:

  1. Logon to your Windows 7 computer with the account of your choice and initiate Remote Desktop Connection tool by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories and clicking on Remote Desktop Connection.

  2. When opened click on Options button to view other features offered by the tool.

  3. Go to Local Resources tab and under Local devices and resources section click on More button.

  4. On the opened box expand Drives tree and choose the appropriate drive letter which you want to map to the remote computer.

  5. Click on Ok button and finally click on Connect button to connect to the remote computer with the recently applied configuration on Remote Desktop Connection tool.
