I know a lot of people who usually click first, just to think about the result later, most of them having switched to Facebook Timeline already and now looking to remove it. Well, people, I got some bad news for you – there’s no way to remove Facebook Timeline! The idea is that tools/hacks/browser addons that claim to remove it do nothing but change the way Facebook displays on your computer, but this is a server-side feature, so it doesn’t get removed or disabled. Even worse, soon everyone will have it enabled, as it can be easily deducted from this message I got on Facebook a few days ago for the first time…
“Welcome to Your Timeline — Preview
Right now, only you can see your timeline. This gives you a chance to:
1. Review what’s on your timeline now, and add or hide whatever you want.
2. Click Publish Now or wait until your timeline goes live on April 16. Learn more.”
Next to the above, two buttons – Start Tour and Publish Now. If I could choose, I would surely go with a third button, nothing less but “Fu*k off and leave my Facebook as it is. Forever.” but, unfortunately, that’s not possible, so…
… here’s the only conclusion that can be drawn when talking about removing Facebook Timeline: being a server-side feature, it can’t be really disabled/removed, only hidden on a certain client’s computer but, unfortunately, it seems everyone will get it in a few days, like it or not. What can be done about it? Nothing easier – drop Facebook and you’ll finally manage to remove that atrocious Facebook Timeline. Forever.
