Sometimes seeing how many Firefox addons can be found for virtually any task you can think of makes me wonder why isn't there a Firefox OS available yet. As you probably know already I use Firefox only as a secondary browser my one & only love in this field at least for now being Opera but when it comes to plugins... I must admit that Firefox is the best browser on Earth. Well today we'll talk about what seems to be the best FTP client for Firefox users namely FireFTP - a Firefox addon that handles a task most people use standalone programs to handle! ;)

As the official mumbo-jumbo goes "FireFTP is a free secure cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers." If that's not enough for you here you have the current numbers: latest release is 1.0.10 out on the 2nd of December 2010; its size is about 600 KB so you won't have to wait ages for your browser to download it; as I write this FireFTP has over 18190000 downloads and a rating of 4/5 stars on Mozilla.org after no less than 566 reviews; this last version works with Firefox 3.5 - 3.6.* so Firefox 4 users will have to wait...

Also available in a Lite version (without SFTP support only 187 KB in size) FireFTP can be enjoyed in about 20 languages all these versions being available on its official homepage where you can read more about its features get some more information about installation and usage or find the links to two excellent walkthroughs for beginners. Other than the above... I think it's enough to say it once again: Firefox addons like FireFTP make me wonder why isn't there a Firefox OS available yet seriously!!! ;)
